Self defeat…

Via a friend who posted it on Facebook. An intriguing NYT essay by Dr. Richard A. Friedman, a psychiatry professor, re: The self-defeating ways of some people — and the hidden pay offs for its continuation.  An excerpt:

…her status as an injured party afforded her a psychological advantage: she felt morally superior to everyone she felt had mistreated her. This was a role she had no intention of giving up.

Many people fall far short of their potential not because they secretly desire to fail but because they are anxious about what it means to succeed.

Busy, busy time in my world. I like busy. But this may be a bit too much of a good thing. The good news: Deadlines work wonders for projects. And this one will be over soon.
