@Newsweek: Twitter’s stuuuupid

So says Daniel Lyons in the Sept. 28 issue of Newsweek. My bet: Lyons doesn’t follow @shitmydadsays. Still, in all 140-character seriousness, some good stuff is getting out via the microblogging service. Want to follow feminist thinkers, there’s a place for you. Writers, journalists, gardeners, hikers, cooks, whatever your passion, it’s another way of bringing people together with mini broadcasts — or links to info. And with little need for an intermediary. Yeah, some are self-absorbed hacks who have nothing better to do than engage in prolonged stretches of navel gazing (Look,  another lint chunk. Was that mole there an hour ago?), but others are using it in some progressive and cool ways — sharing ideas, engaging, gathering. But that’s my take. Here’s Lyons’ take. (Say, Lyons, you might want to loosen the tie.)

  2. Hi Kristen,

    Thanks for the comment. Twitter does have its place. Lots will be tried — and will fail — as the new mediums evolve. And I love @shitmydadsays. Don’t we all have loved ones who just say it as they see it?
