Channeling Gretzky

If you read me or know me, you know that I’m not a sports fan. Except when it comes to softball, but my playing days are over. Consider me a wimp if you want to, but I don’t appreciate embossed softball stitch marks —  hued in variegated shades of pink, red and purple — welting on my knees, thighs and shins. Have I mentioned that I’m not into pain? Other stubborn memories: The softball that skipped my glove and found my watchful eye, projectile style, during a center fielder stint and the demolition derby-style collision course at third base — and the arm sling that became a wardrobe accessory for two weeks following.  Oh yeah, and I’ll open up my top Lochrie sprinting speed, feel oh so smug about my flash-before-your-eyes dash to first base and wonder who altered gravity to make that ball slingshot its way ahead of me. Yeah, I’m done with it.

But I’m channeling Gretzky and a couple of hockey quotes (now there’s a fun-to-watch-in-person sport) this morn:

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.

Happy Monday.
