Movies, music and more

If you’re in the Portland (PDX) area this weekend and you’re a folk and Americana music connoisseur, you might want to check out Artichoke Community Music’s Folk festival. It kicks off at 7:30 p.m. this eve and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5, free for the outdoor stage on Saturday.

Like live music and outdoor films? (Not the drive-in variety. Does anyone remember those films that nobody watched because they were too busy, well, you know. That was before it could all get caught on YouTube, where you could become unwitting stars in an Internet flick.) But back to outdoor music and film. Portland has oodles going on this summer. And Vancouver, too. Even better: They’re all free. Since I’m on the Washington side of the Columbia River, here’s Uptown Movie Nights, which will be in conjunction with an art walk and sidewalk festival. Say hello if you’re in the area.
