For my bookish friends:

If you’re in the Portland area within the next few weeks, here are some must-attend (and free) literary events:

Artisan Cheese of the Pacific Northwest (and wine pairing) on June 7 at 1 PastaWorks (adjacent to Powell’s on Hawthorne)

David Sedaris, side-splitting author of “When You are Engulfed in Flames,” on June 10 at 6 p.m. at Powell’s at Cedar Hills Crossing (3415 S.W. Cedar Hills).

David Carr, New York Times reporter and author of “The Night of the Gun,” on June 12 at 7:30 p.m at Powell’s on Burnside.

Lisa See, author of “Shanghai Girls,” on June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Powell’s at Cedar Hills.
