NPR lays off 64 and nixes two shows

In another blow to journalism — and an all-too-familiar sight in the economy — National Public Radio announced today that it’s snipping its staff by 7 percent, which equates to 64 of its 889 employees, according to a story in the Washington Post. Two shows, “Day to Day” and “News and Notes” will cease in March, 2009.
