More from the I-don’t-get-it file:
It sounds like a Jeff Foxworthy line. And, well, maybe it did involve a chew pouch, brew cube and the common sense of a horsefly. Not that anyone, save the signed, will ever know.
Someone snatched the boyfriend’s presidential hopeful sign over the weekend. Nope, I not gonna say which hopeful he’s jockeying for. Like choosing the right bottle of wine for a meal, that’s his department. And his front lawn seemed like a fine place for him to make his political leanings known to passersby.
But, while he was away visiting family for the weekend, the sign snatchers struck — and plucked his flag-waving patriotism like it was a garden variety dandelion.
I was with him the day he bought his yard sign, the last one left at the Chico Farmers Market. He forked over $10 for the honor. And grinned at the thought that his donation was supporting his candidate. He figured that he’d donate more later, maybe getting a T-shirt or some other I-support trinket that furthered his candidate’s campaign.
But someone snatched the sign.
And that has us both puzzled. I mean, did the sign snatchers think that, by taking the sign, they’ve also snatched the boyfriend’s vote? Or the boyfriend’s support for said candidate?
I don’t know what he hoped to do with the sign following the election — maybe use it for garage wallpaper. But it was his. Bought fair and square. And now, he’s mad enough to, you bet, fork over more bucks that will support the same prez hopeful in the same presidential race and plant another sign.
I guess that’s a sign of support.
And to the sign thieves, here’s yours…
