Who knows why, but this morning “Stewball” rattled in a constant-repeat through my mind. Dad often played the Peter, Paul and Mary tune on his phonograph. Just kidding, but record player sounds about as ancient nowadays. (And, yes, he still has — and uses it.)
Had to hear “Stewball” and, darn, it’s not on Floyd, my pink iPod. Turning to YouTube, I didn’t find it — at least by the trio — but I did love the following footage from a 1971 peace rally, where they sang “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Give Peace a Chance.” And, for fun, Leadbelly’s version of “Old Stewball.”
Enjoy your weekend, even if it’s only a staycation.
